BENIN— FORMER Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Charles Edosomwan, yesterday, warned members of the state House of Assembly to stop making mockery of judicial pronouncements, saying that such trends were capable of endangering democracy in the state.

Edosomwan, who is one of the Edo State delegates at the national conference, also described the gale of impeachment of governors in the country as good for democracy, warning however, that the constitution must be followed to the letter.

He regretted that some governors had failed to carry their Houses of Assembly members along in running the affairs of the state.
Speaking to Vanguard in Benin, Edosomwan, who described as shocking the seeming abuse of court orders by members of Edo Assembly, following the suspension of four lawmakers by the House, stressed the need for respect of the judicial system to avoid anarchy in the state.

He said: “The issue of the state House of Assembly is in court, so I will not like to comment on it. But I will sound a note of warning to all those involved to obey the court order. They should not make mockery of judicial pronouncements.”
