LAGOS—Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire have agreed to strengthen their mutual cooperation as well as maintain excellent bilateral relations  in the interest of the two countries.

This was contained in a communiqué signed by the two countries in Abidjan, the  Ivoirian capital, Tuesday.

The communiqué was signed after a two-day official visit of the Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo to Cote D’Ivoire.

Sambo’s visit was on the invitation of the Prime Minister of Cote D’Ivoire, Daniel Kablan Duncan.

Officials of the two countries held several meetings on a broad range of bilateral and other topical issues on Africa in particular and the world in general.

Apart from this, the two countries also agreed on the need for experience sharing on mining, energy, agriculture and manufacturing as well as the need to work in close cooperation in areas of oil exploration, procurement and the development of the oil sector through the establishment of appropriate infrastructure.

“They also agreed to promote synergies between the two countries’ chambers of commerce and industry through a draft agreement that would be finalised as well as  work towards the realization of community projects including the Abidjan-Lagos highway development project.”
