WHILE many of those who won their party tickets are on the field campaigning, Comrade Tony Nwoye, who was once flaunted by the PDP as its candidate is lamenting the litigation he has had to contend with.
After overcoming the initial tackle from his one-time associate, Senator Andy Uba, Nwoye was two weeks ago displaced by Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who came through the courts to grab the ticket.
Speaking yesterday on his situation, Nwoye who expressed optimism that the ticket would be returned to him by the court, however, lamented that time that otherwise would have been spent on the campaign field was now being wasted on litigation.
He, nevertheless, called on his supporters to keep hope alive.
Accord party candidate, Igwebuike pledges to make the difference
THE candidate of Accord in the governorship election, Mr. Hygers Igwebuike, has said that his reason for joining the race is to offer service to the people with a remarkable difference.
Speaking during a dinner he hosted for members of the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Igwebuike, a retired military officer, said that after implementing what he has in his manifesto, it would be very difficult for any other governor to equal his achievements after his tenure.
He explained that he is not in the race to advertise himself as God has already done that for him, adding that while some of the people vying with him may be learning on the job, he already knows what to do to move the state to the next level.
He warned the electorate against succumbing to the temptation of monetary inducement, noting that anybody who offers money to buy votes is not fit to govern the people.
Obiano flaunts 4Cs
APGA candidate, Chief Willy Obiano says he has come up with a four – dimensional approach to governance, which, according to him, would take the state to the next level.
Addressing reporters in Awka, Obiano said the 4Cs stand for: continue the great work being done by the Obi administration; complete these works; commission them; and commence a set of new revolutionary initiatives that will lift Anambra State into the status of the leading investment and leisure destination in sub-Saharan Africa.
“My vision is for Anambra State to become the first choice investment destination and hub for industrialization and commercial activities, while my mission is to create a socially stable, business friendly environment that will attract both indigenes and foreigners to seek wealth creating opportunities in Anambra State,” the APGA candidate said.
Obiano said he has evolved a comprehensive blueprint for accelerated development covering key areas, including education, health, agriculture, environment, infrastructure development, commerce and industry, housing and urban planning, security and social welfare, as well as tourism, sports and youth development.
