‘Fish out perpetrators of violence around Otumara Flow Station’

WARRI—Security agencies have been urged to do everything possible to fish out the aggressors and invaders of the reported violence around the Otumara Flow Station in Warri South-West Local Government Council Area of Delta State.

Reacting to the reported killing and injuring of some individuals in the area, the Press Relations Officer of the current Chairman of Ugborodo Community Trust Board, Mr. Esimi Nanna, said the reported clash between “the followers of Mr. David Tonwe (present Chairman of Ugborodo Management Board) and followers of the former Ugborodo Management Board Chairman, Mr. Thomas Ereyitomi, is a hoax deliberately fabricated to mislead the unsuspecting public,” and create the impression that the present Board under the leadership of David Tonwe was not working enough.

He said: “The area around Otumara Flow Station has historically been host to some Itsekiri communities who acknowledge that they are within the traditionally held Ugborodo area in terms of land mass. Such communities have existed time immemorial, such that marine traffic is a normal routine in which no incidence of clash between any group has ever been reported until now.

“Thus, the reported clash between two groups in which casualties are reported remains strange. We, therefore, call for indepth investigation by the relevant security agencies.”
