The Enugu State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has denied speculations of internal cracks and possible defections, declaring that its structure remains intact while throwing its full weight behind Chief Obodeze Ocho as its preferred governorship candidate for 2027.

In a statement yesterday, the party dismissed widespread reports suggesting that key political figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had exited the party, triggering uncertainty within its ranks.

The statement, jointly signed by the three zonal vice chairmen—Kingsley Acharabagu (Enugu North), Obinna Callistus (Enugu East), and Kosi Odumugbo (Enugu West)—on behalf of the State Council of Elders and stakeholders, described the reports as misleading and reaffirmed the party’s unwavering loyalty to its national leadership.
“We are intact. We are not moving to any other political party or platform. We remain firmly and irrevocably in ADC,” the statement read.

The party also reaffirmed its allegiance to its national leadership under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, pledging to work in synergy to secure victory for the party in both Enugu State and across Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.

At the state level, the ADC passed a vote of confidence in its chairman, General Chris Eze (Rtd), and the entire State Executive Committee, commending their leadership and commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots presence.

In a significant political move, the party unanimously endorsed Chief Obodeze Ocho for the 2027 governorship race, urging him to immediately obtain the party’s nomination form and step forward as its candidate.

The stakeholders expressed confidence in Ocho’s leadership qualities, describing him as capable of delivering good governance and redefining the political landscape of Enugu State.

As part of its strategy for the 2027 general elections, the party announced plans to intensify mobilization efforts across all 260 wards and over 4,000 polling units in the state, emphasizing that it would not be distracted by defection rumors or political speculation.

The ADC called on its members at all levels to remain focused and committed, stressing that unity and grassroots engagement would be key to its anticipated success in 2027.
