The Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, has formally declared her intention to contest the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

Adeleye, who is seeking the House of Representatives ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made her declaration at a well-attended meeting of party executives and stakeholders held at Ajuwon/Akute Ward 6 in Ifo Local Government Area.

Addressing party faithful in the presence of the Ward Chairman, Mr. Kabir Ajibola, the Commissioner unveiled a people-oriented agenda anchored on inclusive growth and effective representation.

Describing the choice of her home ward for the declaration as symbolic, Adeleye said it reflected her strong grassroots connection and commitment to participatory leadership.

“I am glad this is a gathering of our party leaders, grassroots mobilisers, youth groups, women leaders and critical stakeholders, united by a shared belief in purposeful leadership and a collective desire for progress. Indeed, this marks the birth of a renewed vision,” she said.

She explained that her aspiration was driven by a sense of duty and a desire to respond to the yearning of the people for equitable and impactful representation.

“My aspiration is not borne out of personal ambition alone, but a call to service inspired by the need for inclusive development and effective representation that reflects fairness and equity,” Adeleye stated.

The commissioner also expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the opportunity to serve in the State Executive Council and for ongoing infrastructural development across the constituency.

“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for appointing me as a Commissioner and for the support extended to me. I also commend the administration for the completed and ongoing road projects, particularly in Ajuwon/Akute Ward,” she added.

Outlining her vision, Adeleye called for a “rebirth” of the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency through responsive and dynamic leadership capable of harnessing its economic potential.

“Our constituency is vibrant and diverse. It deserves leadership that understands its complexities. I am prepared to harness its strengths for sustainable growth,” she said.

She identified economic empowerment, particularly for youths and women, as a core component of her agenda, pledging support for small and medium-scale enterprises, vocational skills development and investment drive to boost local industries.

“Economic empowerment remains the surest path to reducing poverty and strengthening community stability. My focus will be on creating opportunities that uplift our people,” she noted.

Adeleye further assured constituents of open and inclusive governance, stressing the need for continuous engagement with the people.

“Governance must be participatory. The voices of the people must be heard, respected and reflected in decision-making,” she affirmed.

Dignitaries at the event included the Local Government Party Chairman, Barr. Oduwole Olumide; an aspirant for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Otunba Muraina Banjoko; as well as other State Assembly aspirants and party stalwarts.
