A non-profit making organisation, Osun Country Club, has called on government at different levels as well as philanthropists to assist orphanages in the State to thrive.

The group on Monday donated food items and cash gifts worth millions of naira to the Our Lady of Fatimah Orphanage in Osogbo, the state capital.

Speaking shortly after the presentation of the gifts to the management of the Orphanage, the club’s President, Chief Abiola Falayajo, urged individuals and society at large to extend their hand of giving to the less privileged, saying that government cannot do it all alone.

He said that the members of the club came to the orphanage home to support the beautiful work the carer and the proprietors of have been doing.

According to him, “We came here to appreciate God and to appreciate those people that have been looking after the less privileged in our society.

“To the glory of God, we’ve been able to provide some support. We believe that this will be an ongoing programme, that is why we all decided to come here and support the beautiful work the carer and the proprietors have been doing. This is an annual event for us, and this is our maiden event as Osun Country Club.

“Every year we will be going to Orphage across Osun state not only in Osogbo, next one will be in another city or town. We believe that God will give us the grace and opportunity to touch lives in the State. We will encourage the society at large to follow in our steps to support Orphage across the State.

“Government at various levels can actually still come in the area of infrastructure and possibly provide subvention but we can’t leave everything for the government alone that’s why our organization Osun Country Club is here today and encourages individuals and institutions to follow in our footsteps” he added.

Meanwhile, Hon. Sunday Akere commended the management of the Orphanage for taking proper care of the children, advocating for more support to ensure adequate and proper care for the children in the system.

Responding on behalf of the proprietor, Reverend Sister Elizabeth Akinlotan appreciated the leadership of Osun Country Club for their humanitarian support for the wonderful kids.

Earlier, members of the group’s Project Planning and Design Committee, a subcommittee of the Project Planning and Fundraising Committee, Osun Country Club, had visited their permanent site with 10 acres where the club house and recreation facilities will be cited.
