A youth group, Progressive Youths for Makinde’s Presidency 2027 initiative, has thrown its weight behind Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as the the best choice from the southwest to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement, according to the group, reflects the admiration and confidence young leaders have in Makinde’s leadership and the transformative achievements of his administration.

In an open letter addressed to Makinde, which a copy was made available to Vanguard, the National Convener of the initiative, Prince Christopher Odianarewo, a articulated the collective sentiments of the group, highlighting the governor’s impactful governance across various sectors.

“Your tenure as governor has been marked by monumental achievements across health, education, social amenities, agriculture, and security. These are not mere policies; they are the bedrock of a prosperous society,” Odianarewo stated.

He specifically praised Makinde’s efforts in the health sector, noting the governor’s commitment to accessible healthcare for all citizens, adding, “The renovation of hospitals and clinics and the investment in medical personnel training are all testaments to your dedication to improving the quality of life for the people of Oyo State.”

The group’s convener further commended Makinde’s proactive response during the COVID-19 pandemic, which he described as “exemplary leadership that has saved innumerable lives.”

“In the realm of education, the letter recognised the strides made under Makinde’s administration to enhance educational infrastructure and curriculum.”

“By elevating educational standards, you are empowering the youth and preparing them to compete on both national and global platforms,” Odianarewo remarked.

He also highlighted the introduction of scholarships and support programmes for talented students, demonstrating Makinde’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.

The initiative noted Makinde’s focus on improving social amenities, which has created a better living environment for residents.

“From the rehabilitation of roads to the provision of clean water, your administration has been dedicated to uplifting the quality of life for all Oyo State residents,” Odianarewo stated.

He said these efforts have made daily experiences more enjoyable for citizens and contributed to overall community well-being.

In agriculture, Odianarewo commended the governor’s initiatives aimed at boosting local production and supporting farmers, pointing out that: “Your efforts have not only strengthened food security but have also provided employment opportunities and stimulated economic growth. This focus on agriculture is viewed as pivotal for establishing a sustainable future for both Oyo State and Nigeria.”

Security was another significant point in the letter, with Odianarewo praising Makinde’s strategies to empower local security outfits and foster community policing.

“Your commitment to security is vital in today’s world, instilling a sense of safety and trust within communities in Oyo State,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of security in enabling citizens to thrive.

Given these achievements, the Progressive Youths for Makinde’s Presidency 2027 initiative opined that Makinde possesses the vision, dedication, and capability necessary for the presidency of Nigeria in 2027.

“Your leadership has not only transformed Oyo State but has also laid down a model of governance that is both progressive and inclusive,” Odianarewo stated.

The initiative, however, expressed its readiness to support Makinde’s candidacy, stating, “We stand ready to support you in your endeavor to bring your exceptional leadership qualities to the national stage.”

”We are confident that with Makinde at the helm, Nigeria can transit into a new era of prosperity, equity, and security.”

Odianarewo finally thanked Makinde for his unwavering commitment to the people of the state and expressed hope for his continued leadership, stating, “We look forward to the possibility of your continued leadership in the years to come.”
