The Olu of Wasinmi in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, Oba Sufianu Jolaosho said he has brokered peace between his subjects, who are predominantly farmers and Fulani herders, residing in the the community, as part of efforts to resolve food crisis and hunger in the country.

Oba Jolaosho, who disclosed this while addressing newsmen as part of activities marking his one year coronation anniversary, said it was high time that both the government and other traditional rulers in the country toe the same line to ensure peaceful coexistence in the country.

Other activities highlighted for the coronation anniversary included rally, paying of homage by groups, medical check up, conferment of chieftancy titles on some indigenes and distribution of wheel chairs to people special needs.

The monarch noted that after the move, farmers in his domain are able to go about their farm activities without fear of molestation or destruction of their farmlands by herders and their cattle.

The traditional ruler also mentioned that he has facilitated construction of a-10 kilometer road in the community, saying that when the road is completed, it will increase accessibility and mobility of agricultural produce to cities.

“Within the last one year, I have constituted security committee, that comprises of operatives of Nigeria Police, vigilante and So-Safe and with this, security has improved tremendously in Wasinmi community, the monarch said.

Speaking on the abandoned passenger airport project by the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Oba Jolaosho assured that he has taken up the matter with Governor Dapo Abiodun, who he said has assured him to revisit the project before the expiration of his tenure in 2027.

He said, “I want to appeal to Governor Abiodun to keep his promise to the people of Wasinmi and the state that he would not abandon any project when leaving office in 2027, including the passenger airport at Wasinmi.

Oba Jolaosho explained that having the airport project in Wasinmi would develop his community and attract both local and international investors to invest in the community, which in turn will provide direct and indirect jobs for the residents and bring rapid development to the town.

“The airport project at Wasinmi is still on the mind of the governor and we should exercise patient with him that there are still many projects on ground to be touched and completed by his administration”, the monarch said.
