The President of the Nigeria Golf Federation, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has said that the game of golf would be the biggest beneficiary of the new partnership that the Federation has struck with communication giant Globacom.”I must tell you that the game of golf and golfers generally in the country are the winner in this new arrangement,” he said.
Globacom had declared through its Sponsorship and Events Director, Mr. Bode Opeseitan that the national carrier has signed on to be the major sponsor for the President Cup Championship as part of its commitment to the growth of sports in the country.
According to him, “We have consistently been investing in sports development and as a policy we believe that Nigerian sportsmen are hugely talented and need to be encouraged to be the best.
Glo will always look for ways to partner organisations like the NGF to increase benefits for sportsmen as a way to encourage the development of the game”.
He announced that Glo will give 300 high speed internet modems to all participants apart from the N10million naira earmarked as the cash prize for professional players jostling for honours at the tournament.
This year’s President Cup would tee-off at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja from December 13 with professional players and Category One amateur (handicap 0 to 5) players having their official practice day.
