SSANU suspends strike in Delta

THE Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University, SSANU, Delta State University has suspended its warning strike, following  agreement by management of the university to pay the shortfall between CONNUSS and HATISS to the lecturers with effect from February, 2011.

The unions in a letter to the Vice Chancellor of the university, said that the management had shown understanding with regards to the implementation of CONNUSS with a promise to pay arrears in due course.

The letter by Mr S. Erubrenyo and Mr M. Izu, chairman and secretary of  SSANU, urged management of the university to make itself available for further discussion with the union with the view to addressing other grey areas bordering on the employment status of the teachers of the University Secondary School.

It added that “the strike has been suspended with immediate effect.”
