SOKOTO – Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, the outspoken media aide to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stepped down from his position.

Dingyadi made this known in a statement released to journalists on Saturday in Sokoto.

Until his resignation, Dingyadi served as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Communications to the PDP National Chairman. For over three years, he was a consistent and reliable source of factual information on developments within the party.

In a resignation letter dated June 25, 2025, addressed to the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, Dingyadi expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve in that capacity.

“While I appreciate the support and prayers of the PDP family during my stay in this office, I remain grateful for all the contributions given to me to ensure the success of my assignment,” he stated.

Dingyadi, however, did not provide reasons for his resignation.

A prominent voice during critical moments of internal crisis in the PDP, Dingyadi was known for his efforts in promoting party unity and defending party policies. He regularly appeared on radio and television and contributed to print media discussions on PDP-related issues, campaigns, and political strategies.

His political media career spans decades. He played notable roles in the Obasanjo/Atiku campaigns (1999 and 2003), the Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo campaign (2011), and the Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa campaign (2023).

He also previously served under the late Minister of Communications, Arzika Tambuwal, and was involved with media teams of several political movements including the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua’s People’s Front (PF), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) under Attahiru Bafarawa, and the administration of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

A seasoned journalist, Dingyadi worked with Nasiha, BBC Hausa, and several other media organizations within and outside Nigeria over a career spanning more than two decades.
