The Young Political Leadership School Africa (YPLSA) Cohort 11, opening ceremony, held recently in Monrovia, Liberia was a resounding success, with Governor Sheriff  Oborevwori of Delta State, receiving widespread acclaim for his dedication to youth empowerment in Nigeria.

According to a statement, the event, attended by about 100 young political leaders from across Africa, including Nigeria, featured a keynote address by Liberia’s Vice President, Hon. Jeremiah Koung, who stressed the importance of investing in the next generation of African leaders.

According to Koung, Governor Oborevwori’s initiatives, including job creation, educational scholarships, and leadership training, have had a profound impact on thousands of young people in Delta State and beyond.

“The participation of Nigerian youth in this cohort, made possible through the support of Governor Oborevwori, is a testament to his commitment to youth development not just in Nigeria, but across the African continent,” the NAYMOTE Board Chairperson noted.

High-profile diplomats, including U.S. Ambassador to Liberia, Amb. Mark Toner and Anti-Corruption Chairman of Sierra Leone, Francis Ben Kaifala, praised Oborevworis  leadership and vision.

“Empowering the youth is key to combating corruption and fostering good governance. Such initiatives are a powerful example of how we can build a better future through investment in young people,” Hon.  Kaifala said.

Participants of the YPLSA Cohort 11 were deeply inspired by Oborevwori’s dedication to youth empowerment, with one young leader from Sierra Leone remarking, “Hearing about the Governor’s work has given us renewed energy and determination to effect change in our own countries.”

As the YPLSA Cohort 11 continues, Governor Oborevwori’s recognition is expected to inspire further collaboration and initiatives across the continent, reinforcing the belief that investing in youth is essential for Africa’s progress and prosperity.
