Delta Ijaw chieftain, Aribogha passes on

An Delta Ijaw chieftain, High Chief Johnny Aribogha (JP) has died at the age of 67.

In a statement by the family, Aribogha was described as a revered figure in various communities across Warri South-West, Udu and Burutu in Delta State and would be sorely missed.

It reads, “The Aribogha family led by Dr.(Barr.)Clarkson Aribogha(Jp) and Chief Joel Ogbona for Ogbe-Ijoh Leaders of Thought, announces the sad news of the passing of High Chief Johnny Aribogha (JP), a revered figure in various communities across Warri South-West , Udu and Burutu in Delta State. Chief Aribogha departed after a brief illness on February 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy cherished by many.

“High Chief Johnny Aribogha was a respected member of Odidi, Ogbe-Ijoh, Okerenkoko, Aladja, Obotobo, in Ogbe-ijoh Warri, Gbaramatu, Udu, and Ogulagha kingdoms. His demise has been met with widespread mourning and reflection.

“His family has announced a 3-day wake-keep tradition, commencing from Saturday, February 17th, through Monday, February 19th, 2024, at his Plantation City residence in Otokutu. Details regarding his burial rites will be shared with the public as arrangements are finalised.

“The Aribogha family expresses gratitude for the thoughts and prayers extended by many.”
