Zamfara: Gov Lawal would still have won a rerun, Arewa group boasts

The Hope Arewa Development Initiative, HADI has described Friday’s Supreme Court affirmation of Dr Dauda Lawal as duly elected Governor of Zamfara State as victory for the poor masses of the state, saying in any case, he would still have won another round of election if the court had ruled otherwise.

The apex court had last Friday ruled in favour of Lawal’s Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state governorship election petition filed by the All Progressives Congress APC.

Reacting to the development on Sunday in Abuja, National Coordinator of the Areas group, Adamu Mohammed, said the victory was indeed for the people of Zamfara state who have for long been strangulated by politicians who did not have their interests at heart.

Mohammed said the Supreme Court verdict has really saved the state, “considering the awe inspiring developmental success recorded within Lawal’s seven month in office.”

“This is a divine intervention, and we salute the Supreme Court Justices for proving that they are the last hope of the common man.

“HADI appreciates the fact that power is from God, but condemns in totality the clandestine moves by some political elites in the state to truncate what God has destined to happen.

“We have no doubt in our minds that the Rescue Zamfara Agenda of Governor Lawal has come to stay, and it will benefit the people no doubt.”

The HADI’s National Coordinator, however, expressed optimism that even if the re-run election were to be held, Governor Lawal would still emerge victorious considering what he has been doing since his assumption of office, adding “he is a Godsent leader who has impacted positively on the lives of the people of Zamfara”.

“As a true politician we commend Governor Lawal who after his victory extended hands of fellowship to his opponents. That is the hallmark of a great politician.

“They should throw politics aside and join hands with Governor Lawal to rebuild and restore the glory of the state”.

The group also commended President Bola Tinubu for being neutral during the whole process.

“His singular act of non interference has proven that the independence of the judiciary is assured and this will deepen the nation’s democracy.”
