ABEOKUTA – The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has said the part did not enter into an alliance with the All Progressives Congress candidate during the March 9 Governorship election in the state .

The party, however, blamed the defeat suffered by the party at the last governorship election on a factional governorship candidate of the party, Ladi Adebutu, who reportedly signed an agreement with the Allied Peoples Movement.

Addressing newsmen after an executive meeting held at the party Secretariat, Abeokuta, the Deputy Chairman, Samson Bamgbose Samson said it’s not true that the party worked for APC during the election.

The party’s gubernatorial candidate in the recently concluded election, Buruji Kashamu was the first candidate who conceded defeat and paid congratulatory visit to the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress , Dapo Abiodun, a development which prompted an insinuation that the Senator representing Ogun East had worked for APC during the election.

At the meeting attended by 35 members and party leaders, names of four executive members were announced to fill the vacant seats.

They are – Sunkanmi Oyejide as the State Publicity secretary; Olusegun Awoyomi (State Organising Secretary); Adewunmi Alabi (Women Leader) and Nike Ejioye as Deputy Women Leader.

“Buruji is not the kind of person; he is a very liberal person, the moment it has happened, he doesn’t care. Nothing like that.

“You can see what led to the fall of PDP in the last election, Ladi Adebutu about two or three hours to the election, he took his people to join APM, they wrote a communique sharing positions” .

Speaking on the party’s fate after it’s loss at the poll, the acting chairman said “after the election, we have held two or three meetings, not state meetings.

“When it happens like that, we just have to remain calm because, we, politicians know what it takes and we must let the tension calm down before we can summon any move.

“So, we have been holding senatorial meetings at our various senatorial districts; the local government meetings at various local government areas”.
