Rivers CP lauds IGP for tackling cult killings

PORT HARCOURT— The Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has been commended for his efforts in tackling killings and other cult related crimes in Rivers State.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Zaki, weekend, also lauded the IG for the improvement in  officers’ welfare, adding that salaries of cops are paid as and when due since Idris resumed office.

Zaki noted that the success recorded in crime fighting in the state was as a result of the establishment of tactical teams and IGP monitoring units in the state, adding that the formations have been positive in the state.

Zaki said: “The IGP has given due attention to the welfare of men and officers of the police force. He has introduced housing scheme to solve the housing problem among officers. All police officers will soon own their houses.

“On the issue of promotion all officers due for promotion have received same.

“There is a tactical team and IGP monitoring team helping to fight crime in the state. All these have helped to tackle crime in the state.

“The IGP, since assumption of duty, has shown an unequalled and unparalleled commitment towards fighting crime in the country and has repositioned the force to be the envy of all,” he said.
