He told newsmen in Enugu, weekend that fraudulently using electricity without paying is highly prevalent in the South-East and EEDC consistently lost an average of 43 percent of its revenue monthly.
According to Eze, “the name and shame will be after they would have been served the statutory fine and loss of revenue and subsequently handed over to law enforcement agents for prosecution.”
Eze commended Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, for the recent review of fine for metre bypass from N50,000 to N450,000.
, said it is expected that this will serve as deterrence to others and possibly reduce the rate energy theft.
