PORT HARCOURT: Ex-agitators in Niger Delta have pledged to work for peace in the region for development to thrive.
The ex-militants made the promise yesterday in Port Harcourt after their graduation from programs in Agriculture at the Federal University of Techonology, Owerri, adding that they were thankful to the federal government for the amnesty program for ex militants in the region which gave them the opportunity to bag degrees in their programs at the university.
Mr Genesis Israel and Paul Ebi, who spoke for the 25 former agitators, said they were ready to collaborate with government to promote the culture of peace in the region.
Continuing, the repentant agitators lauded the Presidential Amnesty Coordinator, Brigadier General Paul Boro (rtd), for effectively driving the amnesty program in the region, and lauded President Mohammadu Burahi for his commitment to drive development in the region.
