NPFL: MFM go top

A brace from top scorer Stephen Odey secured a nervy 2-1 win against Rivers United in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League clash at the Agege Stadium yesterday.

Two first half penalties from Odey gave MFM the win and increased his goals to 12 this season.

Rivers United’s goal was scored by Emeka Ogbugh also in the first half.

The win lifted MFM to the top of the league table on 27 points, two ahead of Plateau United who are now second.

In another rescheduled game at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, a late Bode Daniel’s goal sealed a hard-fought 1-0 win for Shooting Stars against rivals Enugu Rangers.

Rangers had a golden opportunity to win the game when they were awarded an 89th minute penalty but Godwin Aguda missed.
