New year, new commitment to God

By Funmi Komolafe
Happy New Year! Let’s give God all the glory. That you are alive is not because you are righteous. It is God in His mercy that has kept you alive.

So, 366 days have gone by. A lot has happened. Challenges have manifested in various forms but the Lord has given you victory over all.

It’s a new year. 2017 is like a pregnant woman that no one knows the sex of the baby in the womb. I’m referring to a pregnant woman before the introduction of baby scanning machines. As Christians we are looking forward of a year of blessings indeed overflowing blessings.

However, we must realize that God has his part and we also have our part to play.

Usually, in the first few days of a new year, people set goals for themselves. Some set their goals based on  conditions that prevailed in the previous year, while others set goals that they know may be difficult to attain.

Either way, no objective is attainable without the backing of the Almighty God.

Our confidant should be the Lord Jesus. Any goal without reliance on God is bound to fail but that which is dependent on God will surely succeed. The choice is yours.

What exactly do I mean? Let’s consider our popular Psalm 23 vs 1 “ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want”. I shall not want also means, I shall never be in need. In other words, the good shepherd; the Lord Jesus will meet all our needs.

David being a Shepherd himself knows that no shepherd allows he flock to be in need. Why is this so? It is simply because the Shepherd is emotionally attached to his flock. Now, the question for you is are you emotionally attached to God? Brethren, you need to reflect on your lifestyle, search your soul to answer this question.

Being connected to God is not about regular or irregular attendance in church services. It is not about being the wife, son or daughter of a Pastor. After all, the sons of Eli were sons of a priest but would anyone describe them as being connected to God?

The answer is found in 1st  Samuel 2 vs. 12. The New International Version of the Holy Bible states, “ Eli’s sons were scoundrels. They had no regard for the Lord”.

New American Standard Bible put it this way “ Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they did not know the Lord”.

In the name of Jesus, you will not be worthless before the Lord .

Have  fellowship with the Lord

Brethren, I am suggesting that this year; 2017 let’s have a new commitment to God. How do I mean? You need to go the extra mile to ensure you are in a relationship with God. When you are in a relationship with God, he will lead you aright and all things will work out perfectly for you. This new year, resolve to be spiritually promoted. This is a major key to unlock every thing that has held you hostage. It is the key to your breakthrough. I pray that the Lord elevates us all Spiritually in the mighty name of Jesus.

Psalm 125 vs 1  gives us the reason why we should fellowship with God. It states: “ They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever”.

It simply means that we need to put our TOTAL trust in the Lord. Not half, not a quarter. God demands that we have 100% trust in him. That way, we shall enjoy his protection and as the good shepherd, he will meet our needs beyond our imagination.

A further assurance is given in Psalm 16 vs.8 “ Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust”. When the Lord preserves, no enemy can destroy. We all need the protection of the Almighty God especially with the increase in crime in our country. When the Lord preserves you, you will not be a victim of stray bullet, kidnappers,    or robbery in the name of Jesus .

Trust in the Lord means, you are to submit    totally to him in worship and service.    It also means    that you communicate with him on your challenges and he will turn them to    testimonies.

Do you doubt this?    Psalm 55 vs. 22 is our authority. “ Cast    thy burden    upon    the Lord , and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved”.

Would you rather trust in a friend or Jesus?    The choice is yours but the word of the Lord is    clear enough.    Cast your burden on the Lord and your challenge or your enemy will not have the last laugh over you.

Brethren, I restate that your    trust in him must be total .    Why?    Exodus 20 vs. 4&5 provides us with an answer. “ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven    above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the sun.      Thou shalt not    bow down thyself    to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a    jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation    of them that hate me”.

The word of God continued in verse 6 of Exodus 22 “ And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments”.

This year, the Lord will show mercy to you and your family in the name of Jesus.

Resolve to serve God and no other.

If you have been visiting prophet/herbalist who asks you to make bath by a riverside    or take other steps that are contrary to the words of the Holy Bible,      this is the time to stop.    Boldly resolve to stop and you will see the hand of God in your life.

There is no need to go to any prophet for oil to apply for you to get the long awaited promotion.

No need to bow to the pressure    of those who    promise to take you to visit some Spiritualists    in order to have children or attract a marriage partner.

Brethren, hold firmly unto the Lord. Declare to    yourself what you want the Lord to make of you this year.    What you say with your mouth with the full backing of God is what you    will get.

Develop a thick skin against mockers. Focus on the Lord.

At all times remember the word of the Lord in Psalm 62 vs.1 & 2 “    Truly my soul waiteth upon God; from him cometh my salvation.”.

Vs. 2 “He only is my rock and my salvation;    he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved”.      Once God is your defence, you need not fight for yourself.    God is able to fight for you and he will fight for you.

This year, your miracle will not meet you in the grave in the      name of Jesus.

What do I mean?      A man struggled to build a house, but before he could move in, he slumped and died. Someone had vowed he would never live in the house.      This will not be    your portion in the name of Jesus.

Testimony-    As usual I share with you this testimony .

A    mother testified    “ My son was struck with a strange disease seven years ago and it was later discovered that he was poisoned.    I brought him to the Holy Ghost Service of    April 2010 and a word of knowledge came from Daddy G.O.    that there was a lady here with a poisoned son, the Lord had neutralized the poison and my son was made whole immediately”. –  Culled from    Redemption Testimonies.

This year, as the Lord lives, you shall receive Divine Promotion in Jesus name.

Wishing you a happy, prosperous and joyful new year.
