Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, has awarded contracts for the construction of various people-oriented projects in the 20 wards that make up the council.
Chairman of the council, Chief Ebikeme Clark, who disclosed this in Warri, yesterday, explained that the construction of landing jetties, toilets, bore-holes and street lights, among others, in the 20 wards of the council was based on inputs from councilors representing the wards.
Noting that this was also a reflection of the needs of the people they represent, Chief Clark said that his administration decided to embark on the projects after clearing the backlog of salaries owed the council staff.
He said that as of today, he could proudly say that Burutu council was up to date in its salary payments.
It will be recalled that the council boss, while making the 2016 Annual Budget Estimates presentation to the council legislative chamber, earlier in the year, had informed them of his desire to make his administration’s presence felt in all the wards of the council.
Earlier, the council boss appealed to the people of Burutu at home and in the Diaspora, to support the government of Dr. Okowa and his SMART agenda geared towards the rapid and sustainable development of the state.
