Owerri—Loyalists of All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State, are fighting over who takes glory in the ongoing rehabilitation of Federal roads by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in the state.
As the members of PDP eulogised the Senator representing Imo East, Samdady Anyanwu, for attracting the NDDC projects to his Senatorial District, the officials of Imo State government have also given the credit to Governor Rochas Okorocha.
While a loyalist to Senator Anyanwu, Arthur Bruno, conducted newsmen round some of the ongoing road rehabilitation, saying “this project is just the first phase for the Owerri zone,” the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mrs Josephine Udorji, argued that “Imo people should thank Okorocha for attracting Federal Government’s attention to the repairs of the dilapidated Federal roads in the state.”
Some of the roads, which are under contention include Ekemele-Akabo Road in Ikeduru Local Government Area; Nkwerre Street in Works Layout; Awaka-Owerri-Umuahia Road; Owerri-Port Harcourt Road, among others.
