PORT HARCOURT—A lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, Professor John Okoli, was reportedly abducted Monday evening by gunmen.

This is coming on the heels of the release, last week, of another kidnap victim, Dr. Reginald Ohiri, a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry of the same institution.

Confirming the incident, UNIPORT’s spokesman, Dr. William Wodi, described the development as frightening.

At press time, it had not been confirmed if contact has been established with the kidnappers.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said the police are aware, but that detail of the incident had not been given.
