Lagos—Master Mariners in the shipping sector have advised the Director General of  Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA,  Dr. Dakuku Peterside to approach the Nigerian National Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG,  in his desire to provide sea time experience for the 100 cadets who have graduated from the National Seafarers Development Programme, NSDP.

The mariners noted that the NLNG was in a better position to rescue NIMASA with regards to providing Sea time for Nigerian cadets at various institutions.

Peterside had assured cadets of the NSDP of necessary sea time experience that will lead to the issuance of Certificate of Competency to them.

Peterside,  who said this while receiving 100 cadets of the scheme who recently graduated from the University of Perpetual Help in Philippines, also congratulated them for successfully concluding their studies and returning home without any case of misconduct.

Speaking with Vanguard, former President of National Association of Master Mariners, NAMM, Capt Adewale Ishola  said there was nothing wrong in NIMASA approaching NLNG to place the cadets on board their ships if they were available.
