We’re ready for 2015 elections —JTF

Yenagoa—The Joint Task Force, JTF, coded named Operation Pulo Shield, in the Niger Delta has allayed fears over the security situation in the creeks of the region ahead of the 2015 general elections, assuring that the JTF was fully prepared to ensure hitch-free general elections.

Commander of the JTF, Major-General Emmanuel Aweke, who spoke, yesterday, in Yenagoa while receiving the new Air Force Officer Commanding the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Yenagoa, Air Vice Marshall Umar Omeiza, in his office, said the JTF had put in place the necessary security logistics to provide the platform for peaceful elections next year.

General Aweke said the JTF was ridding the waterways of pirates, stressing that recently the force arrested some pirates who he said were undergoing interrogation.

According to him, about 22 illegal oil bunkering vessels have been impounded and hinged the success of the JTF on the cooperation of the component security apparatus attached to the force.

The Air Officer Commanding the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Yenagoa, Air Vice Marshal Omeiza, in his remarks, said he was at the JTF office to familiarise himself with the operations and to seek its collaboration.

He added that the Mobility Command of the Airforce was fully prepared to ensure the success of the 2015 elections in the area of airlifting INEC materials and surveillance, and solicited the support of all.
