The organizers of Nigerian Sports award, Unmissable Incentives Limited yesterday hailed the Nigerian female national football team- Super Falcons for their impressive performance at the on-going African Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia.
The General Manager of the company, Kayode Idowu commended the Super Falcons for their high team spirit and patriotism which he said was noticeable in all the three matches they have played so far in the tournament.
‘’We are indeed very proud of the achievement of the Super Falcons at the on-going African Women Championship especially at this moment when Nigerian Football seems threatened with the lacklustre performance of the Super Eagles in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers” he said.
Idowu stated that the Nigerian women football teams have been consistent in the last few years with remarkable performances at different competitions such as the fantastic performance by the Peter Dedevho led Falconets to the recently concluded U-18 World Cup in Canada.
According to Kayode Idowu, Nigeria Sports Award is particularly proud of Asisat Oshoala and Okparanozie Desire who are both nominated for the footballer of the year (Women category), while Asisat is also nominated for the Sports Woman of the year category for this year’s edition.
Idowu charges the Coach Godwin Okon tutored team to maintain its rightful place in African Women Football by going all out to win the Championship and also ensure a good outing at the Women World Cup.
