Ebola: PPA commends Jonathan on control measures

President Goodluck Jonathan approved a N1.9 billion special fund to combat Ebola

AWKA — THE Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, in Anambra State has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the measures being taken by the Federal Government to combat the dreaded Ebola Virus ravaging some West African countries.

The PPA leader in the state, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, said yesterday, at Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State that the President’s approval of N1.9billion to fight the virus in the country would go a long way towards the challenges posed by the deadly virus.

He observed that the speed with which the federal ministries of information and health responded to the health challenges in the country showed that government had seasoned and competent professionals to handle any issue in the country.

He said: “We are blessed in this country with lots of intellectuals and experts in various walks of life. I was impressed with the speedy response of government to the health challenges currently faced in the country.
“I can say we are fast developing and growing fast to meet the basic practice of showing concerns to issues that affect our people.”

He called on various bodies in the country, including the National Orientation Agency, NOA, the Nigeria Red Cross Society, the various Non Governmental Organisations, NGOs, and health workers to engage in massive awareness programme, especially in the highly populated areas of the country, to drum into the ears of the people, the need to prevent the spread of the virus.
