The Principal,  Avi-Cenna International School, Ikeja, Lagos, Mr. David Ogburn has charged students to learn from every failure stating that failure is an essential component of self-improvement.

Speaking to the outgoing Year II students at the graduation ceremony held at the school’s premises at GRA, Ikeja, recently, he tasked students  to develop their personal attributes and shun habits that can hinder realisation of their dreams of growing into successful and responsible adults.

He said, “Don’t depend too much on others and don’t live other people’s dreams. We have limited time on earth, so don’t waste it. Pain and disappointment are inevitable but suffering is optional. And remember  tough times are always temporary. Be honest and truthful with yourself and in your dealings with others”

Ogburn, who urged the students to continue to develop their personal attributes and involve themselves in a variety of pursuits that go beyond the academic aspect of school

life, noted that  Avi-Cenna  goes beyond academics. “We try to create holistic education. In short we are stressing the importance of a rounded individual as a pre-requisite for success in today’s constantly evolving world. We try to create an appreciation of learning that develops creativity and teaches critical thinking. This makes our students more versatile, adaptable and capable of creating better life choices for themselves. Also important are the social skills, communication skills and the building of character. These are essential components of rounded education.”
