No fewer than 120 people gathered in Ikeja Computer market last week to carry out the special environmental cleaning exercise initiated by phone manufacturers Tecno ltd. The initiative tagged “Tecno Talk and Clean, was part of Tecno’s CSR initiative to reduce e-waste in the market.
The effort also complements Lagos state government’s efforts to rid the metropolis of dirt.
Explaining the essence of the exercise, the company’s Below the Line BTL manager, Soifack Sonna, said the activity underscores Tecno’s desire to give back to the society where it is doing business.
He also said that Tecno was using the excercise to encourage other people operating in Computer Village to maintain clean environment.
Sonna, who spoke on behalf of his general manager Mr Jackwell, said that the exercise will not end only in computer village but will extend to other parts of Lagos in the course of the year. Sonna said, “We just want to say that this campaign is designed to keep our business environment clean. Tecno is not just in Nigeria to do business alone, but also to help our customers stay safe and healthy in our environment” he added.
The BTL manager further stated that the campaign is the first for Tecno all over the world and that Nigeria was the first place to implement it before it would move to other countries. Nigeria is the base of Tecno in Africa and this is the first campaign we are doing in Nigeria and it is also the first for Tecno all over the world, Nigeria has 36 states, so we are going to need more resources, to enable us carry out all this activities across the country.”Sonna added
