*Hands over structure to Daniel

ABEOKUTA — A strong indication has emerged that the National Working Committee of the Labour Party, LP,  may have concluded plans to sanction the Chairman and the Secretary of the party in Ogun State for alleged anti-party activities and embarrassment.

Vanguard gathered that the  national leadership took the decision at the meeting in Akure, Ondo State on Sunday to punish Mr. Olabose Simeon and Sunday Oginni,  who in  their capacities as chairman and secretary respectively, announced the expulsion  of ex-Governor Olugbenga Daniel last Friday.

The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who was said to have announced the decision of the national leadership of the party to hand over the party structure in Ogun State  to Daniel, described him as a man with winning formula to sweep the polls in 2015.

Vanguard learnt that the party described as great embarrassment the purported expulsion of the former governor and others.

According to the statement,  the National Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu on behalf of the National Executive Council, NEC, of the party allegedly apologised to the former governor for what he described as great embarrassment.

While promising that the NEC would take appropriate action against those he described as dissident members of the party, it also handed over the party structure in the state to Daniel.

The national chairman of the LP was quoted to have  denied  knowledge of the expulsion and assured that the perpetrators of the act shall be appropriately reprimanded.

“We are aware of the forces behind them, but we would not lose sleep because with the latest development in the party, the situation is under control,” he said.

The legal adviser of the party in the state, Chief Gboyega Okenla described the purported expulsion as “an act of gross indiscipline of some members of the party.”
