“Construction in developing countries and its contribution to sustainable development” will form the bedrock of a three-day international conference of the Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction, CIB, Working Commission on Construction in developing countries slated for Lagos next month.
The conference which would be hosted by the University of Lagos, Akoka is the first CIB conference to hold in the West-African sub-region since the CIB was formed about 60 years ago.
The CIB is a United Nations global network of over 5,000 experts from over 500 member organisations active in the education sector, research community and industry who cooperate and exchange information in over 500 commissions covering all fields in building and construction research and innovation.
A statement jointly signed by Prof Godwin Idoro and Mrs Hikmot Koleoso,( Chairman and Secretary of the conference) said the conference will be held between January 28 and 30, 2014. A website www.cibw107conference 2014.com has been opened for the conference.
The statement disclosed thats UNILAG and Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, have been granted the joint hosting right for the 2014 and 2015 conferences billed for Lagos and Edinburgh.
