Lagos — An Ikeja Magistrates’ court, yesterday, remanded a 29-year-old man in Kirikiri prison over alleged robbery of N15 million.
The magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Komolafe, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison custody, pending the legal advice from the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The suspect, Izuchukwu Mbadogha, was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy, robbery and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Iranus Nnamonu, told the court that the defendant and others at large conspired among themselves to commit the alleged crime on July 7, 2013, at about 6 a.m, at 71, Cooker Street, Ilupeju area of Lagos.
He said Mbadogha, while armed with dangerous weapons robbed one Arthur Okonloji of his one pair of shoes, two shirts, three belts, four pair of trousers and other valuables, worth N15 million.
The prosecutor said the offence was punishable under section 1 (2) (a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap 398, vol xxii, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990, as amended.
pleaded not guilty. His plea was not taken as he was ordered to be remanded in prison.
She adjourned the case to October 11, 2013 for DPP’s advice.
