By Suzan Edeh

Bauchi—The Bauchi State Command of the Nigerian Peace Corps, NPC, has said that it would recruit more than 5,000 unemployed youths to complement the efforts of other security agencies in the state and ensure lasting peace in the state.

This is coming against the backdrop of increasing cases of criminal activities allegedly occasioned by high rate of youth unemployment in the state.

Speaking in an interview with Vanguard in Bauchi, yesterday, the Commandant of the NPC, Mr. Patriot Maxwell, said the organisation was established to assist youths to be self reliant by training and providing them with jobs in the areas of security so that they can contribute their quota towards the maintenance of law and order.

Maxwell said that the Bauchi State Government, had through the Local Government Service Commission, LGSC,  purchased over 3,000 forms for selected youths from all the 20 local government areas of the state preparatory to the recruitment.

He said: ’’Already, adequate arrangements have been put in place to mobilize them to the training camp at Wailo NYSC parade ground along Maiduguri road after which they would be posted to the 20 local governments in the state.
