ABUJA—Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has said it achieved 90 percent coverage of polio eradication and routine immunisation exercise.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Sen. Bala Mohammed said this, yesterday, at the inauguration of FCT Task force on polio eradication and routine immunisation exercise at Life Camp, Abuja.
Bala said the move was to re-enforce the measures aimed at eradicating poliomyelitis in the FCT.
He said: “Indeed, it is gratifying to state that we have achieved 90 percent coverage of polio eradication and routine immunisation in the FCT.”
Members are chairmen of the six area councils, traditional and religious leaders, with the FCT Minister of State as Chairperson.
The committee was mandated to, amongst others, ensure the highest level of political commitment for the polio eradication initiative by engaging all relevant stakeholders for action; advocate to all area councils policy makers for support towards this emergency and alerting the councils chairmen to their responsibility for local eradication.
