PORT HARCOURT: Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has assured that all ongoing projects of the Commission would be completed soon. Managing Director of the Commission, Dr Chris Oboh who gave the assurance said the commission’s budget for the year would target at completion of all existing projects.
Dr. Oboh who spoke in Port Harcourt said the commission had reviewed its budgetary system to put all existing projects on the top priority list. “A lot of projects have been awarded since the establishment of the NDDC; we intend to focus on the completion of the projects”.
“We intend to provide for projects adequately so that some of the projects whose life cycle or completion are less than two years can be funded, completed and removed from the list” he said.
He also spoke of the effort of the commission to address challenges of poverty in the region through its capacity building programmes, adding that the Commission was to access donor agencies funds to compliment statutory allocation
According to the MD paucity of funds had made it imperative for the Commission to seek the assistance of donor agencies.
While calling for support from stakeholders in tackling challenges in the region Dr. Oboh stressed that collaboration among stakeholders would fast track development of the region.
