Damilola”s killer back to jail for breaching parole

London – Mr Ricky Preddie, one of the killers of late Damilola Taylor, a Nigerian teen has been sent back to jail just 16 days after his release on parole.

Damilola, 10, was stabbed to death with a broken bottle in 2000 in London by Ricky and his brother Danny, who were at that time aged 12 and 13, respectively.

They were both members of a notorious gang.

According to local media, Ricky, who was initially jailed for eight years in 2006 for the manslaughter of Damilola was sent back to jail for breaching the terms of his parole.

He was said to have seen hanging out with suspected members of a notorious gang.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ricky had been released on parole in September 2010 but was returned to jail for the same offence.

In his reaction, Mr Richard Taylor, Damilola’s father said he was dismayed at the authority’s handling of the convict adding that he should not have been released on parole in the first place.

“I am very upset, I am very angry with the Parole Board for the way they handled this case and ignored my advice,’’ Taylor said.

“If I had my way, the two brothers would have been hanged for what they did to Damilola. But since we cannot bring back capital punishment in the UK, they should have been locked for life,’’ he said. NAN
