NFF sets World Cup quarter-final target for him

The Nigeria Football Federation yesterday confirmed Vanguard’s lead sports story published yesterday by announcing Stephen Okechukwu Keshi as the new head Coach for the Senior National team the Super Eagles.

Keshi was unveiled as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles by the vice-President of the federation, Chief Mike Umeh half-way through an NFF Board meeting.

President of NFF, Aminu Maigari said that Keshi would be given a free hand to select his assistants.

Among conditions attached to the new contract include qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2013 edition of the African Cup of Nations to be hosted by South Africa as well as the 2014 World Cup to be hosted by Brazil; where he will be expected to take the team to at least the quarter finals stage.

Umeh also announced that the contract would be terminated at the end of 2014 World Cup with a provision for a renewal based on the terms and conditions between the two parties.

Among members of the Executive Committee who attended yesterday’s meeting were Rumson Baribote, Shehu Adamu, Christopher Green, Olaleye Adepoju and Suleiman Yahaya Kwande.

Others were Muazu Suleiman, Effiong Johnson, Ayodeji Tinubu, Ahmed Yusuf, Emeka Inyama, Dilichukwu Onyedinma, Ahmad Muazu and NFF Secretary Musa Ahmadu.
