THE Director- General of the Industrial Training Fund, ITF, Professor Longmas Wapmuk has won the Rotary Club of Abuja Gwarinpa’s prestigious Excellence in Vocational Service Award.
A letter from the Club notifying Wapmuk of the award, said it was in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of vocational skills development in Nigeria as Director General of the ITF.
According to the letter: “The award committee specifically scored you high on the establishment of the Nigeria/Singapore Model Skills Training Centre and saw the centre as one capable of boosting the skills of the Nigeria’s youths for greater competitiveness.
October is observed every year as Rotary’s Vocational Service Month. Vocational Service, one of Rotary’s Avenues of Service, encourages Rotarians to serve others through their professions and to practice high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations and inspire others in the process.

This year’s award for the Rotary Club of Abuja Gwarinpa coincides with the official installation ceremony of Rotarian John Akwaji as its President for the 2011/2012 Rotary year.”
