NIMN tasks Nigerians on leadership failure

In efforts toward supporting President Goodluck Jonathan’s ambition of entrenching good leadership in all sectors of the nation’s economy, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has reinstated the need for Nigerians to live up to the task of contributing their quota towards achieving the goal of a prosperous nation that can stand the test of time.

Speaking, Chief Lugard Aimiuwu, president and chairman of council,of NIMN at a press briefing prelude to the annual marketing summit, while xraying Nigeria’s quest to greatness in the past 51 year and what has accounted for its failures, said, though the country was going through perilous times at the moment, there is the need to retrace its steps to enable  it know where things went wrong.

He noted that even though political leadership has contributed to the country’s woes, it would be wrong to solely place the blame on the doorstep of politicians alone, while  stating that all stakeholders of the state have contributed to the malaise in which the country found itself.

Whilst on the menace of corruption that has stunted the country’s growth, he stated that the situation was not peculiar with Nigeria adding that Western nations have had to deal with issue relating to that too.

Aimuiwu however noted that in the case of some of these Western countries such as USA, and UK, there is the efficacy of control mechanisms manifesting in more efficient institutions which had ensured check and balances as opposed to its failure with regard to Nigeria.

He therefore, called on all Nigerians to see leadership position at any level as an opportunity to offer credibility and commitment in the discharge of their duties. He however,  maintained that leadership and development was a  collective responsibility calling on stakeholders  to play its role.
