ABAKALIKI- Leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, have asked striking public workers in Ebonyi State to ignore any contrary directive, and continue with their  industrial action over the implementation of the N18,000 new minimum wage.

Labour leaders in the state said in a statement, that the national leadership of NLC and TUC had taken over the management of the strike and had given instruction that the action be continued until government obeyed the New Minimunm Wage Act, 2011.

In a joint statement, leaders of NLC and TUC said: “The workers of Ebonyi State are hereby informed that the National Headquarters of NLC and TUC have taken over the management of the on-going strike in the state.

“Accordingly, the NLC and TUC National leadcrship directed that workers in the state should continue the strike action until government obeyed the National Minimum Wage Act, 2011.”

The NLC and TUC National Leadership also directed that further negotiations with Ebonyi State government  on implementation of the minimum Wage should henceforth involve the two National Labour Centres.

In the light of the above, therefore, the State Councils of NLC and TUC hereby enjoin the workers to continue with the struggle as Labour assures them of adequate support and protection while the indefinite strike lasts. Above all, workers are to disregard any counter directive from any other quarter except the Secretariats of NLC and TUC.
