Edo PDP chieftain faults comment on Anenih

By SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN CITY-AChieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Ms Bisi Idaomu, Thursday, faulted the comment credited to former member of the National Executive Committee of the party, Mr. Henry Idahagbon, who accused former chairman Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, as being behind the problem bedeviling the PDP in the state.

Idahagbon, who defected to Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, last week, attributed the failure of the PDP to win elections in the state to the alleged over-bearing influence of Chief Anenih.

But Idaomi who said those decamping to ACN “are hungry people who are afraid to be in opposition,” regretted that those who had benefited from Chief Anenih in the past will come to criticise him “due to their selfishness”.

She pointed out that “this same person was a commissioner, two-time chairman of a council and recently until few months ago a PDP NEC member all through the assistance of Chief Anenih. So, it will be unfair to throw undeserved insults on Chief Anenih.

She said: “Does Chief Anenih alone own PDP? A short while ago, another lawyer from Edo South who has the yet unbroken record of doing three terms in the Federal House in Edo State did exactly as Mr. Idahagbon.

” I remember clearly saying to him that only a slave abuses his ancestors to his new masters to gain fovours.”
