GLO Ambassador!

GLO Ambassador!

Globacom on Monday in Lagos formally announced the dropping of two prominent Nollywood names, Jim Iyke and Kate Henshaw as the company’s brand Ambassadors.

Although no reasons were given for the sudden development, insiders hinted that both acts were alleged to have abandoned their roles as brand Ambassadors instead were more involved in the pursuit of very personal businesses.

This, our source said was contrary to the agreement they signed with the telecom giant.

In their place, the company signed on award winning producer,Kunle Afolayan, Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola and Hausa movie star, Jamila Umar Nagudu. The trio will reign for an initial period of two years with an option for renewal of contract.

Kunle Afolayan, is known for his work, The Figurine. He began his career as a banker, while playing minor roles before moving full time into movie making. He is the director of the award winning movies, The Figurine and Irapada

Odunlade started acting 15 years ago and has appeared in more than 100 movies, 10 of which he personally produced in the Yoruba genre. He has won several awards including “Best Yoruba Actor’s Award.”

Jamila Umar Nagudu on her part is the Queen of Kannywood, meaning she is the most outstanding female actor on the Hausa film turf which has its headquarters in Kano. Highly respected by the Hausa speaking community, she has won seven industry awards and has featured in several films.

Globacom’s Regional director, Marketing Communications, Mr. Charles Jenarius said that the choice of the three new ambassadors was based on their professional track records and the decorum with which they have managed their personal lives off stage.
