ABAKALIKI – THE National Union of Local Government Employee, NULGE, Ebonyi State chapter, weekend, alleged that the state government had concluded plans to redeploy or swap some civil servants from state ministries with their counterparts in the local government areas.
The union noted that such plans had sinister motives as it was designed to serve as compensation to some politicians who had worked tirelessly to ensure the re-election of Governor Martin Elechi
during the last general elections.
Addressing the press in Abakaliki, Chairman of the union, Comrade Leonard Iheanacho Nkah, noted that the move by government was contrary to the rules and regulations governing civil service in the state.
He said: “We have reasons to suspect that this is exactly what the state government is about to do. We trashed this out in 2009 when they tried to do it and we told them the implications where a person is forcefully taken to another service without proper procedure or mass movement of people from the ministry to the local government as they planned to do.
“We are here to protect our members and we are going to take actions to ensure that we protect the interest of our members. We want government to know that what they are doing is illegal. Now if these people come from the Ministry, will government make an additional provision for their salaries?
