Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, (NCRIB) has thrown its weight behind UnityKapital Assurance Plc tagging it a broker-friendly company even as the insurance intermediaries tick the underwriter as brokers’ choice.
The endorsement which took place at NCRIB Brokers’ Evening in Lagos was appended by Alhaji (Dr) Teslim A. Sanusi, NCRIB President, the Executive Secretary of the NCRIB, Mr. Jide Aminu in the presence of Nollywood actor, Mr. Yinka Quadri.
Sanusi certified UnityKapital as a Broker-friendly insurance company whilst urging all the brokers to patronise the insurer massively. UnityKapital was given an award by the NCRIB at the event.
Mr. Kins Ekebuike, managing director of the insurance company noted that the programme was an opportunity for the company to strengthen its relationship with the NCRIB while reiterating that they have “made an in-house decision to operate with brokers as the centrepiece of our marketing and growth plans.”
Insurance brokers do not take it lightly with any insurance company that challenges their existence in the market and thus categorise underwriters into three segments.
NCRIB president said that the council will from next year categorise insurance companies into three segments A, B and C. The ‘A’ category, he explained, are for the top ten insurance companies within which Niger Insurance falls.
The top ten underwriters are the ones that have been tested for prompt claims payment and brokers’ commission settlement; that are customers and brokers friendly with solid asset and good capital base.
“We will do everything possible to from next year, publish a list of the registered insurance companies are customers and brokers friendly.
By the time we start flagging off the good insurance companies in the market, the bad ones will sit up. We appreciate insurance companies that are not just doing business but are doing the business well.”
Dr Sanusi said insurance brokers would only patronise insurance companies that are customer- and broker-friendly.
Aside that, he said that the brokers’ fraternity would only patronise insurance companies that have solid assets base and above all, insurers that are reputed for prompt claims settlement and quick payment of brokers’ commission, would get their support.
