The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) last week inaugurated a service compact unit, tagged ServiCom. The unit according to the satellite company was in order to optimize customer-friendly service in line with global best practices.
Servicom, according to the organisation, is a program to renew service delivery by government agencies, all Nigerians.
Addressing a cross section of Nigerians that attended the inauguration, Managing Director of NigComSat Engr. Ahmed Rufai, tasked staff of the company on prompt service delivery to customers, adding that it was the only way to become good leaders.
He charged the Servicom unit leaders and staff that “the customer is not just king, but the life of the business. In fact, customer satisfaction should be the organizational structure”. He added
Rufai stated that as a service delivery company, everybody that comes here is very important, a visiting guest should be received warmly to achieve customer satisfaction.
He regretted that Government agencies have failed in different aspect of service delivery because Government Agencies, according to him are pipelines through which government delivers services to the people.
Rufai therefore urged staff to see themselves as agents through which government delivers service to the people.
Also contributing, the National Coordinator, Servicom, Mr. Ad’Obe Obe, who was represented by the Chief Servicom Officer in the Presidency, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, requested the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to as a matter of urgency draw a Servicom Charter that could be rendered to customers and what can be done when such services are not provided efficiently.
He called for support to the Servicom Unit to bring a change in the public service delivery. He assured Nigcomsat that Servicom was ready to work with it to ensure better service delivery to Nigerians, commending Rufai for putting the programme in place and for establishing the unit in the company.
