Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has ordered the contractor handling the Sapele Township Stadium to stop work and pack out of site.

The governor, who gave the order while inspecting on-going construction work at the stadium yesterday expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of the work.

He directed that the stadium, which ought to have been completed in 2009, be handled through direct labour.

Governor Uduaghan thereafter instructed the engineer in the state’s sports commission to liaise with her counterpart in the ministry of housing to do the costing for completing the project through direct labour.

In terminating the contract, the governor who was visibly angry told an engineer of the contracting firm that it was obvious the job would not be completed by “the way you are going.”

He said: “Stabilini, move out of site. By the way you are going, you cannot complete this project as scheduled. You have been fully paid and work ought to have been completed two years ago. Please move out of site now.”

It was observed that only a few staff of Stabilini Visionini were seen in the mainbowl planting grass.
