Barely 12 hours after losing defender Emma Ogoli to the cold hands of death, Ocean Boys Football Club of Yenegoa was again struck by yet another tragedy after their third choice goalkeeper, Austino Egbe almost lost his life in a ghastly automobile accident in the Bayelsa state capital, Yenegoa in the early hours of Monday.
Incidentally, the driver of the car which was conveying the goalkeeper was his team mate, Okey Akabogu.
Reports have it that Akabogu, a defender with the team was driving his Mercedes Benz V-Boot car along the streets of Yenegoa when his car ran into a sidewalk, claiming the lives of two pedestrians around 1 a.m on Monday.
Egbe was unconscious when he was brought out of the car and subsequently went into coma. Latest report however said Egbe had regained consciousness but was still in serious condition as he was suffering from pains as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.
The Police are now questioning Akabogu at the Ekeki Police station, having been seen to be in good condition after he was put under observation.
Although not much has come out of the police, there were strong indications that members of the families of the deceased may press for manslaughter charges against Akabogu
