CALABAR— President Goodluck Jonathan has said that it was better to leave a legacy of service to humanity before departing this earth than to merely acquire university degrees.

He spoke at the burial ceremony of  Elder Comfort Imoke, mother of  Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, which took place at Itigidi in Abi Local Government Area of the state.

“Reading the bible, one would think it is difficult  to live beyond 70 years, but our mother exceeded that. And reading through her biography, you see the wonderful contribution she made while on earth with us. Those of us who are opportuned to be here and those who are also not here, we should ask ourselves, if we were to return to mother earth, what would be our biography.

“Everything is not all about education. You don’t need to have a degree or certificate to put your footprints or indelible mark in the sands of time.

“When somebody dies, I know there are some people, when you want to bury them, you even find it difficult to write a biography because there is no good thing to write about them,” he said.

The burial ceremony was literally turned into a political rally in support of the President  Jonathan’s aspiration for 2011 elections.
