INEC explains staff deployment

By Emma Ovuakporie

ABUJA—THE  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday said the ongoing deployment of its personnel across the country is to expose them to various operational areas to ensure versatility and effectiveness in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The commission stated that the exercise is neither a purge nor action against any of its staff.

In a statement in Abuja, signed by Mr. Emmanuel Umenger, Acting Director, Public Affairs, it noted that “the on-going transfers of our staff  to strategic operational locations are, therefore, an administrative virtue in the sense that the affected personnel would be exposed to various operational areas to ensure versatility and effectiveness in the discharge of their responsibilities.

”It is the aftermath of a rigorous personnel audit of its workforce in terms of suitability of individual staff in the discharge of specific functions under-girded by the need to variegate skills for enhanced performance come 2011.
